Establishment of chemical leak detection and repair (LDAR) system

KOLON Industries, Inc. has been designated as a self-monitoring company since 2012 in recognition of its thorough environment equipment management level, and manages its environment equipment autonomously.

Environmental activities

KOLON Industries, Inc. has been participating in environmental cleanup activities since 2002, fulfilling its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Zero Hazard & Process Safety Management (PSM) Activity

KOLON Industries, Inc. has been maintaining zero hazard workplaces and carrying out Process Safety Management (PSM) activity since 2000 to establish a process safety management system to prevent serious industrial accidents.

Continuous execution of safety & health events

Since 2000, KOLON Industries, Inc. has been holding 4 regular safety events annually, including a danger prediction training contest, firefighting technology contest, ESH quiz contest and zero hazard resolution meeting, and is promoting improvements in the safety and health consciousness of its employees.

Safety day activities

KOLON Industries, Inc. designates the fourth day of every month as ‘Safety Day’ and works to improve the safety consciousness of employees through the use of banners for each theme, a safety campaign, safety inspection and safety and health events since 2014. Also, since 2014 all executives and staff members have been following “8 Safety golden rules” in workplace by selecting and announcing those rules autonomously. As well, all executives and staff members are making continuous improvements to achieve a permanent no-hazard workplace.

KOLON Industries, Inc. has been continuously pursuing quality management in order to produce the world's best hydrocarbon resins.
We have been carrying out quality management since 1977 by establishing the hydrocarbon resin manufacturing plant in Ulsan and introducing the TQC activities in 1980. We acquired ISO-9001 certification in 1995. By introducing total productive maintenance (TPM) in 1996, we carried out 7Step twice to secure the reliability of manufacturing facilities and process operation. Since then, we continue to pursue quality improvement activities.
In 2013, we carried out improvement activities continuously by introducing its unique innovation technique, the GDI (Goal Drive Innovation) program, and have won consecutive gold medals in the national quality circle contest since 2013.

EPD(Environmental Product Declaration) certification

EPD is to calculate the environmental effect of the life cycle of a product including raw materials input, production, transportation, distribution, use and disposal and label it on the product.
And it consists of the total 7 categories such as carbon foot print, water footprint, resource footprint, ozone depletion, acidification, eutrophication, and photochemical smog.

Eco-friendly Management Implementation

KOLON INDUSTRIES, INC has been practicing market-led continuous environmental improvement by disclosing environmental impact accurately and transparently.
By improving energy efficiency and productivity in the production process, we are establishing a systematic procedure and strengthening our sustainability management capabilities.

Ecovadis "GOLD" rating

KOLON INDUSTRIES, INC has received a GOLD sustainability score, which is only awarded within the top 5% of the companies subject to examination, from EcoVadis, the world's most trusted provider of business sustainability in 2021.
The EcoVadis rating covers a broad range of non-financial management systems including environmental, labor & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement impacts.
We are also taking the lead in environmental protection, supporting the socially disadvantaged group and practicing ESG management, including ehtical management that thoroughly complies with laws and ehtics.
